ACCP training and nursing strikes
The Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, as the professional standards and training body for Advanced Critical Care Practitioners, need to ensure the quality of training and training environment to meet the rigorous requirements of FICM ACCP training.
The role requires trainee ACCPs to be entirely supernumerary for the first two years of their training. Any deviation from this is likely to have a negative impact on both training and the governance structure around their clinical work.
Trusts and Health Boards are commended to consider this, and the impact delays and interruptions to training may have. FICM encourages any situation of this nature to be challenged. Health Education England trainees must let HEE know if there are any breaks in training.
