Introduction to the LLP

The LLP was launched for Anaesthesia training in August 2018 by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. In November 2019 enhanced CPD functionality was added. The LLP now includes FICM trainees and consultants as well as the 2021 curricula for ACCS and Anaesthetics. This means that Dual trainees are now supported across multiple specialties, which makes the LLP unique when compared to other portfolio systems.

An Agile approach was used for the above development and the LLP Team continues to work with stakeholders to further enhance the Platform. All suggested enhancements are reviewed by a specialty clinician advisory group and prioritised by the LLP Product Owner for future development.

The LLP is a custom-built and flexible Platform designed specifically to meet the needs of our members. We work in partnership with the RCoA and an external development agency. The intellectual property of the LLP is owned by the Royal College of Anaesthetists, representing a significant financial investment and asset for RCoA and FICM members.

Queries

If you have queries or problems with using the FICM LLP, please consult the user guides first. If that does not solve your issue then please do not hesitate to contact us via: llp@ficm.ac.uk

System updates and improvements

The RCoA has a running log of release updates and system improvements which offer brief, high-level descriptions of technical issues that have been resolved, as well as enhancements and new features. We will continue to fix bugs and identify where improvements can be made to LLP.

It is an offence to view or enter data on the LLP if you are not authorised to do so. Authorised personnel include only those registered ‘Users’ from the FICM membership and partner organisations who hold a valid username and password. It is an offence to make use of this platform other than for the purpose for which it was created.

1. Acceptance of Terms

The Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine ("FICM") provides access to https://lifelong.rcoa.ac.uk/login (the "Site") subject to your acceptance of these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time without prior notice.

2. Your Obligations

Clinical and non-clinical staff entering data on the LLP are reminded of their legal and professional duty to keep patients’ personal information confidential. As advised in the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges’ Guidance, doctors should anonymise patient data as far as possible in their self-reflective logs. The platform is an educational and not a medical tool and therefore there is no reason to include patient identifiable or personal data relating to a third party. Please also ensure that you comply with your organisation’s or trust's/board’s information governance policy throughout your use of the platform.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and your chosen password, and for all activities that occur under your username and password. Under no circumstances should users pass on their login details to others. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your username or password or any other breach of security.

It is your responsibility to ensure that all data you submit is correct and it must not include any data from any other organisation(s) other than those that the registered user has legitimate access to.

Users should only be able to see their own data or data for doctors that they have supervisory or assessment responsibility for. If a user detects what he or she believes is a breach of security or confidentiality then it is their responsibility not to disseminate the information obtained and to report the event immediately to llp@ficm.ac.uk.

Users will be logged out of the website after a period of inactivity. However, users should log off before leaving computers or mobile devices unattended.
