Non-consultant medical cover (two tiers):

Two critical care specialist doctors

One career grade dedicated to critical care

One full time ACCP (and one in training)

Mixture of anaesthetic trainees (CT2-6)

Dedicated critical care pharmacist as well as a physiotherapy and diatetics team

Training

Training opportunities when working at this Unit:
  • Training in point of care ultrasound
  • Opportunity to attend theatre for airway experience
  • Exposure to paediatric emergencies

  • Opportunity to attend a Cardiac Catheterisation lab
  • Acting up as an ICM Consultant (for Stage 3 trainees)
  • Other: Advanced echocardiography training, including the opportunity to attend out patient clinics for exposure to diverse and advanced pathology.
Departmental Teaching:
  • Weekly lunchtime meeting to discuss current in patient management.

  • Monthly meeting with CPE component

  • Weekly tutorial on clinical topic

  • Opportunity to attend weekly anaesthetic tutorial

  • Annual transfer training course
