14 Consultant staff

Residents dived into tier one (those who can intubate- specialty doctors, Anaesthetics and ICM) and Tier two consisting of Foundation doctors, ICM, senior clinical Fellows, Internal Medicine, ACCP’s, and Junior Clinical Fellows

Training

Training opportunities when working at this Unit:
  • Training in point of care ultrasound 
  • Opportunity to attend theatre for airway experience 
  • Interhospital transfers 
  • Acting up as an ICM Consultant (for Stage 3 trainees) 
  • Other: Have provided supervision in the past for Stage 2 - Education year

Departmental Teaching:
  • Daily Morning Departmental Teaching facilitated by Consultants.
  • Journal Club presentation – once a month
  • Case Based Discussion every Tuesday

Details of clinical governance meeting days and/or M & M:                             

  • Every Thursday MDT and M and M between 1330 to 1500
  • Once Monthly Clinical Governanace meeting on a Thursday between 1230 to 1330
The medical specialties and subspecialties it is possible to complete within theTrust/Health Board:
  • Stage 1:  Emergency Medicine, Medicine & Anaesthesia

  • Education
Other facilities: 
  • Every Patient bed area has a computer
  • There are four on call rest areas for doctors/ACCP doing the on calls
  • Rest area has Computers and Telephone facility for doctors to use for admin work
  • MDT room has four computers and two telephones
  • Resident doctors/ACCP are encouraged to stay back to rest after morning handover before driving home if the on call has been busy
  • Hot food available only during day time. Vending machines available at the end of the corridor.
