Podcast: Resilience
This series of podcasts takes a closer look at the concept of resilience through a series of interviews focusing on challenging times. The interviews were recorded at the FICM ‘Striking the Balance’ meeting in September 2019.
Alison Pittard is a consultant in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia in Leeds. She is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. In this podcast, Alison talks to us about how to remain resilient when a skill you value is questioned, and your place of safety is taken away.
Matt Morgan is a consultant in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia in Cardiff. He has recently published a book called ‘Critical – Science and stories from the brink of human life’, and has chosen to talk to us about remaining resilient through the process of publishing his first book.
Sarah Marsh is a consultant in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia in Harrogate. She is also a mother of three boys under the age of 6, and she talks in this podcast about about how she remains resilient whilst balancing a busy day at work with the demands of home life.
Rosie Baruah is a consultant in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia in Edinburgh. Her story takes us on a journey from suddenly losing the sight in one eye to making a successful return to work.
Segun Olusanya is an intensive care doctor with a special interest in resilience and burnout. In this podcast, Segun shares his story of encountering a personal tragedy and how he lived through this experience.
