Case of the Month #50 Heatstroke

What are the possible causes in this patient’s case?

  1. Classical heatstroke – the most likely diagnosis 

  1. Sepsis – important to exclude given it is common and can co-exist 

  1. Serotonin syndrome 

  1. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome 

This patient could have any of the above diagnoses. The history provided indicates many risk factors for classical heatstroke.
