The radiologist rings you with a provisional report. There is a right-sided frontal contusion with early haemorrhagic change, a degree of midline shift and evidence of early hydrocephalus. Widely disseminated subarachnoid haemorrhage is also evident. The radiologist advises an urgent neurosurgical opinion, which you obtain, and they accept the patient.
