8. Appeal panel

  1. If it is considered that there is a basis for the appeal to proceed in accordance with section on Grounds for an Appeal, the case will be considered by an Appeals Panel. The Appeals Panel will be composed of examiners from the FRCA, FFICM and/ or FFPMRCA who have had no prior involvement or contact with the candidate in examining or clinical practice. The panel will be chaired by the chair of the examination to which the appeal applies. In cases where an appeal relates to the chair of the exam, the chair of another RCoA exam will lead the panel.

  2. All documentation from the appellant and the College will be collated by the Examinations Department and submitted to the panel who will consider the appeal on the merits of the documentary evidence.

  3. The Appeals Panel will be held to review the evidence and any investigations (steps taken and outcomes) that the College has taken to investigate the issue.  There will be no hearing.

  4. An Appeals Panel will review the appeal and the candidate will be notified of the date on which the panel will convene. The panel’s decision will be shared with the appellant within 15 working days of the date the Appeals Panel concludes
