Case of the Month #25 - ANCA vasculitis

Published 01/02/2022

What is the prognosis of ANCA vasculitis?

Prior to modern immunosuppression, untreated ANCA vasculitis had a 5 year survival of only 10%, with current therapies this has improved to 80% at 5 years2. If the diagnosis and treatment is delayed leading to need for RRT at presentation 29% of patients will not recover independent renal function to remain off dialysis, and 23% will be dead at 6 months3.
