- Number of Admissions per year: Level 3 - 9, Level 2 - 15
- Percentage of Elective vs Emergency Admissions: 20% elective vs 80% emergency.

At any one time, the unit is signed up for most UK multi-centre trials. Traditionally, we have been one of the biggest recruiters to trials as a DGH. Trainees are encouraged to be Associate PI’s. |
Overview of the staffing for the Unit (including medical, ACCP, AHPs)
12 ICU Consultants, expanding to 16 in 2025. 40 Resident Doctors (FY1, FY2, CT, ST, CTF, SAS). Accredited for ST7 training in ICM. 4 ACCP’s with another 4 in training. Daily ward round supported by Microbiologist, Dietitian, Pharmacist & Physiotherapist. |

Details of clinical governance meeting days and/or M & M:
QIP/M&M meeting once a month. All trainees are allocated a QIP when starting. All trainees are allocated a mortality review and taken through the SJR process with a senior. Attendance at inquests is encouraged as learning opportunities. |
