This is the first part of a podcast series we will be running to raise the profile of the critical care multidisciplinary team. We hope that this will highlight the vital contribution that each member of the critical care team makes to the complex management of patients on the intensive care unit and how effective collaboration between team members helps to ensure successful outcomes after critical illness.

In this podcast Gareth Thomas talks to Greg Barton about the importance of the critical care pharmacist. Greg is a Critical Care Pharmacist at St Helen’s and Knowsley NHS Foundation Trust and the Chair of the UK Clinical Pharmacy Associations Critical Care Group. He has recently been made an MBE for services to pharmacy.

Ella Terblanche & Danielle Bear – The Critical Care Dietitians
Next Gareth has a discussion with Ella Terblanche and Danielle Bear about the role of the critical care dietitians and common misconceptions. Ella is a critical care dietitians at St Georges Hospital & chair of the Critical Care Specialist Group of the British Dietetic Association. She has also recently been made an MBE for her services to dietetics and in particular the response to COVID-19. Danielle is the principal critical care dietitians at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust & a previous NIHR clinical doctoral fellow.
