30 year old with a background of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder day 2 post Critical Care admission for Mixed Overdose.
Patient had been extubated the evening after admission and was awaiting Mental Health team input.
At morning handover patient began behaving in an “unusual” manner and told staff she took an overdose.
On review haemodynamically uncompromised; Heart rate 80 BPM sinus rhythm, blood pressure 90/60 mmHG, and SaO2 98% on room air.
GCS 15 responded to questioning but intermittently make deliberate aggressive limb shaking movements. Pupils equal and reactive.
Ascertained from nursing staff patient had emptied her drug locker of propranolol.
